Concert March 3, 2024

The Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band (LOMCB) presents its first ever matinee concert on Sunday afternoon, March 3, at 3:00 pm, at Lakeridge High School Auditorium. As usual, there is no admission charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Doors open at 2:00 pm giving you time before the concert to visit artists in the lobby while listening to pre-concert music from the Millennium Brass. Again, the concert start time is 3:00 pm.

Storytelling Through Music

Storytelling can take many forms: written, oral, plays, movies, and poems, to name a few. In this concert, we explore the art of storytelling through music. We will show you how composers bring the stories of places, people, and events to life through melody, harmony, counterpoint, and rhythm.

Follow Orca whales frolicking in the ocean; follow the life of a con-man through music from the movie “Catch Me If You Can” featuring our alto saxophone soloist; explore the Cumberland Gap region of the Appalachian mountains; take a journey with a “Wayfaring Stranger”; watch shadows waltz in a play of light vs dark; tap your feet to some Dixieland; and imagine a mounted National Guard standing at attention behind a Sousa marching band.  These experiences and others await you when you join us for our matinee concert on Sunday, March 3rd, at 3:00 pm.
