A Mother’s Day Concert!

What better way to top off Mother’s Day than spending the evening with family or friends listening to good music! We hope you will join us for an evening of lively and entertaining music.
Travel with us to Sedona, Arizona, with a piece evocative of the old West by Steven Reineke. Prefer the Mediterranean? Satiric Dances by Norman Dello Joio will transport you overseas.
We have a truly special treat for you as we welcome our amazing euphonium soloist Jeff Binns to the stage to perform Rhapsody for Euphonium and Concert Band by James Curnow.
With summer just around the corner, composer Brian Balmages invites us to dance with light and airy flourishes in the woodwinds and heroic themes in the brass with Summer Dances. We welcome Gordon Williford, music teacher and LOMCB bass trombonist, to the podium as a guest conductor for this piece. Then, the trombone section gets a workout on Rolling Thunder Marchby Henry Fillmore.
Charles Mackerras compiled and arranged many recognizable themes from Gilbert and Sullivan scores into Pineapple Poll. You may recognize melodies from The Mikado, Pirates of Penzance, HMS Pinafore and more.
Let’s travel again to see the aurora borealis with Yukiko Nishimura’s captivating interpretation of The Northern Lights. How about a traditional Irish drinking song? The Rakes of Mallow by Leroy Anderson promises some rollicking fun. Back to America and the Big Band era for a medley of pieces you will recognize. Snap your fingers and tap your toes to Glenn Miller in Concert arranged by Paul Murtha.

We hope you will join us for this concert and bring your friends. The concert starts at 7:00 pm, but the doors open at 6:00 pm. Come early to visit the artistsin the lobby and listen to pre-concert music in the lobby from Trillium Flute Consort.
