Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band
December 8, 2024, 3:00 pm
The Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band (LOMCB) invites you to our first concert of the 2024-25 season on Sunday afternoon, December 8, at 3:00 pm, at Lakeridge High School Auditorium. As usual, there is no admission charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Doors open at 2:00 pm giving you time before the concert to listen to pre-concert music from the Millennium Clarinets. Again, the concert start time is 3:00 pm.
Take Flight and Soar!
Who hasn’t dreamed of flying? Defying gravity and soaring through the air over mountains, valleys, oceans, and deserts. The inspiration for the title and theme for this concert comes from one of the pieces on the concert: Soaring Over High and Low Country, which is a musical panorama of where the audience is “flying” over the beautiful and geographical scenery of the Carolinas.
Other vistas the audience will musically “soar” over include the vast and vibrant oceans in Tempest of the Ocean; the flight of heroic women, children, and elderly as they fled Ukraine during the beginning of the war in 2022 in Flight to Freedom; the fast-paced and vivid brightness of Broadway in Bright Lights; Brighton Beach, England, during World War II in the Brighton Beach March; and, a lively sleigh ride through a snowy wintery wonderland in Winterscape.
We will also look in on some long ago and far away villages as we listen to Armenian Folk Dances, an English Folksong Suite, and the Roaring Twenties. A lively Latin party called Fiesta for Flutes will feature the flute section.
We hope you will join us for this concert and bring your friends. The concert starts at 3:00 pm, but the doors open at 2:00 pm. Come early to listen to pre-concert music in the lobby from the Millennium Clarinets.
