Our small ensemble known as the Millennium Winds is a wind quintet with the traditional instrumentation of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French Horn. This combination of instruments has been used in chamber music settings since the late 1700’s. With the development of better instruments, which led to more accomplished players, the wind quintet blossomed in the first quarter of the 19th century and has enjoyed even more popularity in the past 75 years. Our wind quintet performs music of several styles with the majority style being classical chamber music written expressly for the five instruments noted above. Our performers are accomplished musicians who rehearse together, usually once per week and are available to perform wherever music will add to the enjoyment of the event.
